We will depart together in the morning from the port of Piraeus and hop on the ferry to the island of Aegina. According to a myth, Aegina was named after a beautiful nymph – whom Zeus fell in love with and brought him to the island! We will start our day with a delightful welcome of mezedes to indulge in the local flavours of Greece.
After that, we will start our tour around the center to taste the “star product” of the island, the famous pistachio of Aegina – and the delicious treats made out of it. We will pay a visit to a family-run business in the center that produces over 30 hand-made pistachio delicatessen products found exclusively in their workshop. There everything goes through their hands, thus ensuring the freshness and high quality of their products. We will try out their delicious pesto made with pistachio, basil and olive oil or their special pistachio spoon dessert.
We will walk around its charming alleys and discover the hidden gems of the island. In the port we will find an eccentric floating grocery store and a fairytale scenery with horse carriages walking next to it. We will continue strolling through the streets of Aegina with its very impressive neoclassical buildings and mansions which are well worth a visit.
Following to that, a cosy and pampering dinner with fresh fish and seafood is definitely not to miss when in Aegina. For you, we selected the most authentic, family establishment by the seaside. Enjoy various tasty fish mezedes such as deep fried calamari or grilled octopus that come fresh from the local fish market accompanied with ouzo or a local wine of your choice.
